Welcome to the Parish of Buittle and Kelton Website.
Congregation No: 080489
Charity No: SCO03844
The combined parishes of Buittle and Kelton are set in the beautiful countryside of the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright in Southwest Scotland. The local area is mainly directed towards farming and land use in general and we are closely associated with the market town of Castle Douglas. Kelton church is set in attractive rural surroundings where services are regularly held. The church has an Induction Loop System installed for hearing enhancement and has a busy church hall adjacent to the church building.
In the absence of a regular minister, our Interim Moderator is Rev. Jack Owen, who resides, with his wife Seonaid, in Dalbeattie. His contact details are: 01556 612125; 5 Galla Avenue, Dalbeattie, DG5 4JZ.
Vacancy: At the present time the vacancy is cisted.
The Presbytery met in St Georges Church, Dumfries on Wednesday 30th November at 7p.m. At this meeting it was agreed that Auchencairn & Rerrick remain linked with Buittle & Kelton and that they would, now, be in a deferred linkage with Castle Douglas. This would probably be until Castle Douglas becomes vacant or until Presbytery make other arrangements.
As of 1st January 2012:
Services will be held at Kelton on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month and in Auchencairn on 2nd & 4th Sundays of each month. Services will now start at 10.30am.
Services on the 5th Sundays will be at Kelton in January, July and December and at Auchencairn in April & September
